Horror Film Poster - Sketches

"The Mother" is what this sketch is entitled, focus has been put on the arms of the mother and a headless Teddy Bear, to show the sick nature of love the crazed woman has for this inanimate object, shading in the nails of the woman connotes the feminine trait of the disturbed killer. The headless Teddy Bear shows the violent side of the killer and just how desperate she is find love in the form a child or friendship, the killers body language denotes mothering traits.

The smoke around the main image gives an ery mood to the poster to keep up with the elements that support the conventions of a horror poster which is darkness, the font style used is medieval/ witch craft style, the letters also have blood dripping down which to denote painful infliction.
This sketch is called "Face Off" this is to show the break down in the relationship between the mother and her fake Teddy Baby, a break down in what is an imposed love from crazed mother who believes her baby is a Teddy Bear in disguise, the design behind the two characters emphasises the break down that is going on between the two as well as the mothers mind. To maintain the theme of a break down I added in the lettering broken pieces type of design in each letter.

Between the two characters are statements which read "A different love", "A dysfunctional love" and "A mother A child?" these statements are all pieces when put together make the plot of the story easier to understand, this device is for audience purposes to persuade them to watch the movie becauase these abstract words only make sense when one watches the film "My Baby"
This sketch is entitled "Choke Hold" simply because of statement of only seeing killers hand has an effect on audiences, this creates a sense of mystery therefore making audiences anxious to know the face to the hand. this device has proven to be successful, an example of this is from the movie poster for "The Ruins"  (2008)  horror/thriller, the movie had a budget of $8,000,000 and made a gross of $17,427,926 because i undertook research it then allowed me to discover successful layouts when creating an effective horror movie poster.

I also added to effect of smoke around the image to give the poster a darker mood to give it an authentic horror theme, within the smoke are the wordings that read "My only love" and "La La" this is a clue as to what  the movie is about love links back to the title "My Baby" which connotes a mothers love gone wrong the statement "La La" is a quote from the "La La Bye" song made for babies, again this supports the role of the Teddy Bear who is a baby to the crazy woman featured in the teaser trailer. The lettering used in the sketch is has long strokes toe enable the Gothic styling which supports the dark themes of the main image.
This sketch is called "Another World" the focal point of the image is the woman dressed pyjamas approaching  a door, this represents the mind of the woman, this woman is crazed and as a result sees the world differently, what is strange is that the female is holding a bleeding Teddy Bear, by not revealing the identity of the woman this creates a build up to the full length feature film, this device will certainly attract audiences.

The electrifying strokes of darkness around the character completes the tension building up in the mind of the women and how the height of the door creeping in above her connotes that the state on mind she is in, which is that her whole world is falling apart and slowly effecting her sanity.
