Audience Research Results Analysis: Questions 6-10

QUESTION 6: Having done the research I was able to reflect on the findings in the questionnaire, question 6 asks "What do you deem to be the unique selling point of a film magazine?" 5 people believed that the 'coverlines/Main cover-line' were the most significant in selling a film magazine, evidently this was the least amount of people. On the other hand most people, which was 1eople are attracted to visual images as a means of advertising.
5 believed that in order to sell a magazine the 'Main Image' is the most important aspect, this connotes that most people don't have the time to stand around and read cover lines or think about the colour scheme because people don't normally pay attention to that aspect, what catches a customers eyes to buy a film magazine is seeing there favourite actor\actress on the cover.

However when looking further into the graph I discovered that second to the 'Main image' 14 other people are more likely to buy a film magazine based on the colours used this then confirms that again the key to selling magazine is not so much based on the content but visual aspects, how much can one magazine stand out from its competitors in a newsagents/news stand.

2 choices came in for a tie in third place by both having 8 people each who one choice thought an important selling point is the Masthead the headliner of a magazine, that when manipulated can stand out in the cover of a magazine, this is much easier for more critically acclaimed film magazines for example 'Film' and 'Empire'.

None the less an equal 8 other people believed that promotions definitely get target audiences buying. This suggests these particular people look for how a Film magazine benefits them where there its a prize to win free cinema tickets or a Holiday, that is what draws these particular people in.

QUESTION 7: In question 7 it reads 'What would you rather see more of on a magazine front cover?" my results are in the form of a pie chart, with the majority of the percentile is of the choice of having "info regarding issue's content", this connotes that people still value informative information in the form of text, by knowing this I can apply it to my group's project of producing a magazine front cover.

The second largest segment in the pie chart is 40% of people who would rather see more images on a magazine, a factor like this i must take it into account and find an equal balance with the proportion of images and cover lines in order to cater to audience different tastes.

Lastly 13% of people would like to see more of Headings on the front cover of a film magazine due to the small amount of people who choose this option i don't have to add to many headings to the page seeing how not many people like instead i would create only one heading which will be the magazine's name.

QUESTION 8: Question 8 aks "Which film magazine appeals to you most" This particular question is important because it gives me a template to the ideal magazine cover i should aim to create, the majority of audiences (44%) expressed their opinion that Empire film magazine is their favourite film magazine Empire magazine is known for their bright red font colour and strong front style normally placed behind the subject in the image.

Second largest segment in the pie chart with 40% are Total Film that people said they liked most, who ironically have a similar font style to Empire but instead the colour is a bright white, this suggests that when making the headline for my magazine front cover i should bright colours preferably primary colours Red,Yellow and Blue. With 16% is Entertainment Weekly, who's Masthead changes its colours regularly this denotes that when creating a Masthead I should keep to one colour so it can become recognisable to audiences.

QUESTION 9: " A teaser trailer advertises upcoming films.which aspect of a teaser trailer do you most prefer?"
Editing /Special effects is the most which was 16 people thought to be most captivating for them, a factor that would definitely get people out to watch the full movie. 13 other people are more interested in the actions used whether its a high speed chase or jumping off a building. Lastly 11 people believe that Music keeps them entertained when watching a fill trailer meaning these people are more receptive to audio features and not so much visual.

After taking this information into account when creating the teaser trailer in my group i should include the importance of editing skills and special effects to attract audience as well as capturing a number of actions to draw more attention to the railer along side music also having important role but not so much story line because the aim of the teaser trailer to make it abstract and not give the whole story away this device to ensure people are puzzled and want to seek the story behind the teaser trailer.

QUESTION 10: "Which duration do you prefer most for a teaser trailer" this question helps to length of peoples attention span when it comes to a teaser trailer, 30 - 45 seconds is what most people (19) would want the length to be 11 people prefer 15-20, 8 people would want the length to  45-46 seconds long and lastly 7 people would watch a teaser 1 minute and more.Again this is insightful information in creating an eye catching teaser trailer and leaving audiences bored.

In conclusion these question have help further my knowledge in advertising and marketing, with advertising doing the questionnaire prepared me for the type of style and format i should aim to creating when doing the film magazine front cover and in a marketing aspect the questionnaire gave me areas to focus on in my group when creating the teaser what people are found of and not so much found of all of my findings will be reflected on in depth to enable my group and i to make an authentic magazine front and teaser trailer and as a result achieve a high grade.
